Job Posting: Land-Based Educator Support for Children and Youth

Location: Wíilíideh Gathering Site (Outside of Yellowknife)
Full time Casual: May 10th - June 31st, 2024

Outline of the Position: This position is driven by land-based learning, relationship building and collaborative support with the Dechinta Godzèa Children and Youth Program. The Dechinta Godzèa program is shaped by Dene worldviews and Dene land-based perspectives. This position will require you to support our children and youth land-based educators in delivering land-based learning, cultural practices and language revitalization for three weeks. This position requires travel to the Wíilíideh Gathering Site outside of Yellowknife, a flexible work schedule, and extensive time on the land.
 
Role Mandate: To work collaboratively with land based educators, children and youth, and the Dechinta team in learning together and sharing northern Indigenous land-based and cultural teachings. This role will provide support to our children and youth land-based educators in creating a learning environment that embodies traditional teachings and efforts to transmit knowledge and revitalize northern Indigenous culture.
