Dechinta Day on the Hill- October 2018

On October 18 2018 Dechinta faculty, students and alumni travelled to Ottawa Ontario to participate in a Dechinta "Day on the Hill." Hosted by NWT MP Michael MacLeod, Dechinta students met with MPs and staff to discuss the importance of Indigenous education. Students spoke about the importance of land-based education, the TRC Calls to Action and UNDRIP. Staff discussed the importance of having alternative employment opportunities outside of resource extraction, and Elders talked about the importance of sharing their love of the land with future generations.
